New York Section 480a
Section 480a is New York's current use property tax program. It is a law designed to encourage long-term forest ownership, stewardship and active forest management. Basic requirements for Section 480a include a minimum of 50 contiguous acres of forest land and the development a forest management plan to be approved by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). F&W foresters can write and implement the forest management plans and practices required for enrollment in 480a. More information about this program is available through NY DEC. |
