Based in Middlefield, Connecticut, our foresters & planners help landowners improve & enjoy their property, and reduce costs. Key F&W services include forest management plans (also called forest stewardship plans), timber sale management, and PA490 or Chapter 61/61B enrollment. All F&W foresters are Connecticut certified. Our staff also includes a Massachusetts certified forester, a USDA-NRCS Technical Service Provider, and a New York Watershed Agricultural Council certified forester. Other services include recreational trail work, GIS-based mapping, and comprehensive utility forest management programs. Our clients include private landowners, towns, and land trusts interested in responsible, science-based stewardship of their forestland and open space parcels. We assist landowners with improving their properties for wildlife, aesthetics, and recreation, while also (at times) generating revenue through timber sales. Many clients participate in property tax reduction and management cost-share programs. Municipal and land trust clients are frequently interested in our management plans and baseline reports that help maintain/improve healthy forests and natural ecosystems, expand recreational opportunities such as hiking trails, and are required for both conservation easements and Land Trust Alliance accreditation. Water and power utility companies are some of our larger clients. These companies own large assemblages of land ranging from hundreds to many thousands of forested and non-forested open space acres managed for many diverse purposes.
